Stamped Canvas Resist

Hi All!

It's Jodi here with a fun easy tutorial for you using sticky-back canvas, Distress Paint  and Distress Stains. I'll be using the  "Mermaid Treasure" set for my art.

Okay, so here's what you need to do this technique:
A craft sheet, various Distress Stains (medium to dark colors work best - I used Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Dusty Concord), light colored Distress Paint (I used Peeled Paint, Picket Fence and Spun Sugar), sticky back canvas (by Ranger) and a spritz bottle with water.

First, take your Distress Paint and apply it directly to the stamp and stamp it onto the canvas. The paint dries pretty quick, but you can hurry it along a bit using a heat tool. The Distress Paint will cause a resist with the stains.

Next, making sure the paint is dry, use the spritz bottle with water and get the canvas good and wet. This will help the Distress Stains bleed together better. Use the Distress Stain on the whole canvas, including the stamped image.

You can blot off the stains a bit if you want it to look a little more faded, otherwise use the heat tool or let it dry naturally.

I added some bubble with a transparent Viva Decor pen as well as some ribbon and other little goodies to make it a bookmark.

And you're finished! Hope you decide to give it a try yourself.

Until Next Time!

Hitting the Beach

Hi All!

School's almost out, and the weather is finally starting to feel warm like it should this time of the year. Perfect for this week's Dare to be Sassy Thursday challenge - Hitting the Beach! Now, you may find this hard to believe, but I have not been to the beach. I don't count 10 minutes in Monterrey Bay and the lake doesn't count either. Ahh, someday. But today my Sassy Design is at the beach! I used Sarong Sassy for my beachin' card (sorry, couldn't resist.)

She's colored with Copics as is the crazy wave background - I stamped that with Hero Arts Neon Blue and colored it in, I know I must be insane coloring all those swirls, but it looks really cool. I also used the A2 Deckled Edge die by Spellbinders.

So now it's your turn to Dare to be Sassy with us this week. Use a Sassy Studio Designs image (bonus points!) and create a beach themed project. Make sure you link up with us on the Sassy Studio Designs blog and maybe you'll be a winnah!

I'd also like to enter my sassy chic in the following challenges:

It's a Banner Day!

Hi All!

Like that won't be used a bunch! It's the last Wednesday of the month, an especially fun day for us Bombshell Girls because that means it's a Hop Day! This month's theme is Banners. Use the pre-fabbed banners that come with many of the Bombshell Stamp Sets, or create some of your own banners to embellish your creations. You can even make a banner as your project!

I used Lucky Bride and Banner Sayings for my project. I don't usually shoot my cards with a flash, but the cardstock I used had a pretty purple/pink shimmer to it that went with the way I colored her, so I wanted to show it off. I also used the Timeless Rectangles dies by Spellbinders for the background.

Now on with the show! Here's the hop list:

Black and White

Hi All!

It seems like its been a loooonnnggg time since I posted anything. Been busy here with end of school PTO stuff and the like. But I have something for you today! Music please....

It's Dare To Be Sassy Thursday!!!!! Our theme today is black and white with a pop of color. I realize that last week's creation for Derby Days would've been perfect for this challenge as well, I think Theadora works just as nicely....
I used all Neutral Gray Copics for the main parts and R29 (Lipstick red) for my pop of color. It's pretty simple and clean, just the way I like it. I think the black and white gives it a nice retro look too.

Soooo, now it's your turn to show us your black and white with a pop of color! Make something fabulous using a Sassy Design and use the challenge guidelines and make sure you link your project on the Sassy blog. Good luck and have fun!

I'd also like to enter this in the following challenges:

Turning Japanese

Hi All!

It's Dare to be Sassy Thursday with Sassy Studio Designs! This week's theme is "April Showers Bring May Flowers" - use flowers in your creation and of course a Sassy image. I used Japan Honey for my image... I couldn't resist using the 80's song by the Vapors in my title. It's a catchy little tune...

I used Song Bird by Graphic 45 for my print papers. The branch is actually the holy branch from the Tim Holtz die and the washi tape (Oooo, how appropriate!) is by Darice, if I'm not mistaken the paper flowers at Petaloo.

Okay, now you know what I'm going to say... it's your turn to join us! Create a fabulous design with a Sassy image and flowers - make sure you add it to the link at the bottom of the blog post on Sassy Studio Designs to win a prize.

Bombshell Pin-Up Challenge

Hi All,

It's me again - I know twice in one day? What's the world coming to?

Marnie Bushmole  is  Bombshell's Ms. May! She's issued a Color & Texture Challenge!! The color combination is gray, jade, gold, and silvery white. The texture can be achieved through dry embossing, glitter, ribbons, or other textural components!

Okay, I'm not sure if my patina on the metal is necessarily jade and my white is a grungy silver, but I defintely have the texture kickin!

This set is Pin-Stripe, I love it because you can use it for backgrounds as well as your main focus. I heat embossed it in black on a darker gray cardstock, I used self-adhesive foil and embossed that with a diamond plate folder, and went over it with some alchohol inks. The gears have a bit of patina Perfect Pearls on them although I can't seem to get the sparkle to photograph well. The sentiment at the bottom is from Banner Sayings (which is on sale this month at Bombshell) and colored with Copics.

Why not give our challenge a whirl? Post your creation on the Bombshell Stamps blog post or in the Bombshell forum, make sure you use a Bombshell Stamp to be eligible to win.

I'd like to enter this is the following challenges:

Simply Challenged Challenges - Embossing Folders
Creative Moments - Brads
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Just Because
Sisterhood of Crafters - Free For All

Until Next Time,

Dare to be Sassy - at the Derby!

Hi All!

It's Dare To Be Sassy Thursday with Sassy Studio Designs! Our challenge this week is the Kentucky Derby - I can't believe it's that time already. Seems like only yesterday it was winter...oh wait! It was! LOL! Now that it's finally warming up, I'm ready for the nice weather and all the things that go with it - even the allergies. One day I'd love to go to the "Run for the Roses", it's not that far from me. I make it a point to watch every year. I love to see all the fabulous hats. Besides, isn't that what it's all about?

I used My Fair Lady for my image - when I saw the theme she was the perfect pick. All I could think of was Eliza watching the race at Ascot telling Dover to "move his blooming arse!".

I colored her with Copics and decided that the white of the dress should have BV (blue-violet) shadows. This was one of my favorite outfits from the movie too so win-win!

Now it's your turn to play along with us! Create a Kentucky Derby themed project -bonus points for using Sassy Designs. Make sure you add your link to the blog post and you could win!

And they're off!

I'd like to enter Miss Doolittle in the following challenges:

Celebrate the Occasion - Anything Goes
LEJ Designs Challenge Blog - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesday - Anything Goes
Tiddly Inks Challenge - Inspiration from a book or movie
Eureka Stamps - Black and White

I used one of the digi paper designs for the background and outlined the little skulls with Copics. E-Meow Minxy is also colored in Copics (if ya hadn't guessed).

Now join us in our hop! Leave a comment and you could win the above image - and she is soooo cute! Here's the hop list:
